Hello Toronto
Just flew into town last night for the Sante Wine Festival, where I'll be baking World Peace Cookies and Rum-Drenched Vanilla Loaf Cakes in Yorkville Park tomorrow between 1 and 2 pm, and hosting a dessert station at a gala walk-around tasting -- there'll be plenty of Caramel-Crunched Chocolate Tart to go around.
In between meetings with my colleagues at Bon Appetit, co-sponsors of the Festival, I'll be meeting three Canadian bloggers: Rob of Hungry in Hogtown; Ivonne of Creams Puff in Venice; and Brilynn of Jumbo Empanadas. I can't wait! It's going to be so much fun to actually meet and have a tete-a-tete with these ether-friends whose blogs I love.
And about that Canadian still life in the photo - it's what greeted me when I got into my room at the Toronto Four Seasons Hotel. No surprise that the sweets tucked into the maple-syruping bucket were buttery and mapley too: they were leaf-shaped cookies pressed together with maple frosting. Just what I needed after my flight up had been delayed three hours!

I'm sooo very jealous of the Toronto food bloggers!!!

What a cute welcome present! And I know that my fellow Daring Bakers must be really excited to meet you too, you´ll have a blast.
I´m waiting to receive Baking... from Amazon (long story, I didn´t order it sooner because customs in Argentina can be very painful and I was planning on going to the US anyway), and I just can´t wait to start delving into the pages and enjoying your delicious recipes.

I can't wait either, Dorie!

I hope you enjoy your visit to Canada, Dorie! What a cute gift waiting for you at the hotel... if you are ever in Eastern Canada in late March/early April, be sure to try some delicious maple sugar on snow!
I hope you, Rob, Ivonne, and Bri have a wonderful get-together! I just know that you'll have plenty to talk about! :D

Oh how I wish I had known you were coming Dorie! I'm in Ottawa, just a short 5 1/2 hour drive away, and would have loved to had the chance to meet you! And Brilynn and Ivonne, Daring Bakers "sisters".
Have a wonderful trip - I hope the humidity plays nice with you and your desserts!
(PS I made your banana cream pie for my grandfather's 70th birthday dessert this week - he's had banana cream pie every year for more than 40 years, but this year my grandmother could not do it, and despite not being his "traditional" pie, he loved! Another Dorie convert!)
