I just have to change the message on the phone and try to squeeze one more pair of shoes into my bag and I'm gone! Off to France for five - yes, I can't believe it either, five - weeks. I'll write as soon as I can! A bientot - Dorie

Thank you all for your good wishes. I'm thrilled to be back in France and love the comments from Shira and babycakes that say "welcome back" -- they make me feel like France is truly the home I feel it is.
I've been so frustrated because I'm traveling and have had only spotty internet connections and very little time to use the connections once I get them, but I'll be writing soon -- I hope.
Welcome back! I'm looking forward to a bit of kitchen inspiration. Between the work and the weather, I seem to be forgetting that it's summer in Paris.
Chere Dorie,
Bon Voyage ! I had the pleasure of meeting you at the French Institute - along with Patricia Wells. We spoke of life in Paris . I will look forward to reading your wonderful posts of culinary delight .
Warmest Regards,
Madelyn E
Oh how very exciting, Dorie. Looking forward to your posts from the most beautiful city. Would that I could have stowed away in your suitcase.:))
Safe journey.
In regard to Chris'comment: "i expected you to be a big, fat gal -- my god, i would be huge if i cooked like you" --
I know at least one person who, being served two or three baked desserts after dinner on successive Saturday nights during Dorie's writing of "Baking: From My Home to Yours," took the title to heart (or anatomically proximate). Dorie's baking became my girth to take home (and everywhere else) with me. It's not the baking that puts the weight on -- obvious from one look at Dorie -- it's either not giving the results away, as Dorie does, or being the lucky recipient!
lucky son of a swine. been there twice, gorgeous!!! enjoy your remarkable life. you earned and deserve it. oh, by the way, you rock as a cookbook author. alexis stewart (martha's daughter) recommended your baking book on her blog. LOVE IT!!!!!! when is the next one due ??? and yes, the paris book is superb also (i expected you to be a big, fat gal -- sorry to those weight challenged out there -- my god, i would be huge if i cooked like you.) killer blog, too. c
Lucky you! Travel safe and enjoy all the wonders of my favourite city. I can't wait to read about all your new
"finds" and adventures. Bon voyage cherie!

Can't wait for your posts from La Belle France. I'm just back from two weeks there and wish it could have been much longer.
