MeMe:Help Needed!!
Months ago, the wonderfully talented Rosa Jackson, whose blog, I adore -
I love when she takes us marketing with her in Nice or wandering through Paris - tagged me for a meme. It seemed so easy - all I had to do was pose four questions to myself and then answer them. I thought and thought and thought and just couldn't figure out what to ask myself. I'd come up with a question and then I'd reject it, thinking "who'd care about this?"
So, I'm asking for HELP!. I guess I should mention that I asked my husband and son for help first - I thought I'd keep it in the family - but they weren't any better at it than I was. In other words, a few more weeks went by and I still wasn't any closer to posting what Rosa had requested.
Can you help me? Please! I'm looking for four questions that I can ask myself and answer.
If you've got a couple of minutes, I'd really appreciate it if you'd send me a question or two. I'm determine to make good on my promise this week, so if you send me your questions by Wednesday or Thursday, I just might get this done.
Many, many thanks.

WOW! I always knew you were an incredible group of readers, but you sure have proved it with your really, really interesting questions. Now I've got a job that's even harder than answering four questions: picking them! Back to you soon. MANY, MANY THANKS!

Only 4 questions, eh? Just when you thought you knew everything there is to know about yourself...
What's your favourite curse word (if you do) and how many times a day do you say it?
If you had 3 wishes what would they be?
With whom would you like to bake/cook with that you haven't already?
What do you do to relax?
Your favourite romantic getaway and with whom? :)
If you could meet anyone in the world living or dead who would it be and why?
Your top 5 movies of all time?
How do you manage your time, baking, writing, researching, making time for your family & friends?
Your most cherished possession?
Maybe I should stop now. Bonne chance faire le choix.

Where does your inspiration for new treats come from?
Posted by: Kiersten | Wednesday, 20 February 2008 at 04:03 PM
Hmmm. How about, if you could have one thing delivered to your doorstep every morning what would it be?
Or, if you could soar over any city in a hot air balloon, what city would you choose?
Or, what is your favorite midnight snack?
I look forward to seeing what questions you choose and the answers you post Dorie!

1. What makes French food so completely sensual?
2. What is your "comfort food"?
3. What is the one food you cannot resist?
4. What's the best advice you ever got about cooking?
And, believe me, there's nothing you could tell us about yourself that wouldn't be completely fascinating!

Remember the famous "Proust Questionnaire"? Well, I'm borrowing my questions from that.
1. Your favorite colour and flower.
2. Your favorite authors.
3. Your favorite heroine in history.
4. Your pet aversion.
(Just for the record, my aversion is fast food. And Julia Child is one of my heroine's.)

Most of the great bakers I know also love to cook. What are some of your favorite dishes to prepare for your family? And if you were going to make yourself the perfect dinner for your birthday, what would it be? Other than a fabulous cake, of course.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
What is your favorite kitchen gadget?
What is your favorite holiday?
Good luck with the questions. I see you have several great ones to answer now:)

What did you want to do when you were a little girl, and why?
What food will you not put in your mouth (the more normal the better)?

1. Tell us how you came to your career of being a cookbook author.
2. If you knew you were eating your last meal, and particularly your last dessert, what would you choose?

Things I think about at night: If I were stuck on a desert island and I had to choose only one type of the following to have with me, what would they be?
What flower would I choose to gaze upon? What book could I not live without? What treat would I snack on? What item of sentiment would I choose to have with me?

Dorie, I think the questions to ask yourself would be more interesting to read if they were NOT food related! For example - what interests do you have outside of the kitchen? Have you other hobbies? What are your favourite clothes, colours, music etc? Is there anything about your appearance you hate, love , put up with, make the best of?
Love reading your blog and love your book, Baking FMHTY. Best regards, Jeannette.

How do you stay so slender and make such wonderful food???

Hi Dorie -
A question for you. What do you suppose you would be doing had you not ended up a leading authority on - and baker of - all things baked?
I always enjoy your visits on 'The Splendid Table'.

Hi Dorie! I enjoy your books and your blog immensely, but I think since many people know you and your wonderful relationship with food, folks might enjoy a question or two that doesn't put you either in the kitchen or the dining room. Maybe you have a hidden skill, hobby, or talent you haven't shared with your readers? Do you Juggle? Play the tuba? Tango flawlessly? Surprise us!

Question: What's the best piece of culinary advice you have ever received?
Posted by: JEP | Monday, 18 February 2008 at 03:57 PM
1. When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?
2. What is the bit of advice you most want your son to remember when he heads out into the world?
3. At what point did you realize that you were a pretty big deal as a baker?
4. What do you do with all the food that you bake that is left once you and and your family have tried it? I ask this assuming you, your husband and your son do not eat all of every single thing you bake...lucky you if you do!
I so enjoy your blog and your appearances on All Things Considered! It would be an honor to meet you someday!

4 questions from Dorie to Dorie:
1. What was the first recipe you were able to replicate without referring to the recipe and do you still make it to this day?
2. Who plans your weekly meals and sometimes do you cook something so that you can basically clean out the fridge of all perishables?
3. How do you keep your working life on track? Is it a month-to-month or year-to-year scrutiny of where you want to be and where you are or more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kinda thing?
4. Where would like to visit for the first time simply to sample the restaurants?

Hi Dorie,
The question I have is about being afraid in the kitchen and stretching skills, something I think we all strive to do.
Is there still a dish or a baked goodie that scares you to make?

You have eaten the food of reknown chefs the world over. If you could have one of those chefs prepare a meal for you,who would that be and what would the meal consist of.

I'd love to know whether you ever get tired of baking!!

OK Dorie, questions for you to answer:
1. If you could only shop at one market for the rest of your life what would it be?
2. What is your favorite book? (It can be food related but not a cookbook)
3. Describe one perfect day. If can be a day you regularly experience, experience only on certain occasions or have never experienced yet.
4. List 3 CDs you'd be perfectly heartbroken if you could never listen to them again.
Best,
Michelle

I have two questions
1. What would be your favourite suggestions for items to make for a bake sale.
2. When you go out for dessert what do you usually go for? A creamy custard, a fruity pastry, a citrusy tart or a gooey chocolate dessert?

Hello. Here is maybe an oddball question but I find it interesting and fun that you have more than one home. Do you have a special thing you do to help shake out the cobwebs when you first arrive at your abode? Something to bring the house to life and make it home for the period of time you are there?
